Infineon SICRYPT®
United Access is an official provider for the Infineon smart card operating system SICRYPT® as well as the primary support partner.
The main advantage is the pre-installation of the Infineon CSP (cryptographic service provider, middleware for Windows platforms) under Windows XP and Windows 2003 Server. A version for Windows 2000 can be downloaded for free - the interface specification of the operating system is public.
Microsoft has defined a new CSP model - the so called Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP working with dedicated card modules. This model is part of Windows Vista; for Windows XP Microsoft offers a download at http://support.microsoft.com/kb/909520/en-us. The idea is to provide one CSP interface to applications (implemented by Microsoft) and request only small card modules from card operating system vendors. This should reduce the uncontrolled growth in the sector of third party CSPs.
The Infineon SICRYPT CardModule card is one out of 2 pre-installed card module cards. Samples for this new OS version are available via United Access.
