Smartcards sind das Hauptgebiet von United Access. Wenn hier von Smartcards gesprochen wird, sind damit intelligente Microcontroller Karten mit kryptographischem Co-Prozessor gemeint und einem Betriebssystem, das auf einem dedizierten Sicherheitsbaustein läuft.

Es besteht eine große Auswahl an verfügbaren Controllern und Betriebssystemen. In diesem weiten Feld fokussieren wir uns auf unabhängige Plattformen (nicht unter Einfluss eines Kartenherstellers stehend) für Anwendungen im Bereich der IT-Sicherheit, ÖPNV, Mautsysteme und im General Purpose Bereich. Cards, modules and operating systems are only one part – the other side is software (mainly PC based) to talk to the cards and reliable readers to interface the modules. Due to the standardization work of the PC/SC workgroup the main interoperability problems are solved. Today smart cards can be seen as a mature and well established technology with almost no technical risks.

Microsoft has defined a new CSP model – the so called “Microsoft Base Smart Card CSP” working with dedicated card modules. This model is part of Windows Vista and all later versions. The idea is to provide one CSP interface to applications (implemented by Microsoft) and request only small card modules from card operating system vendors.

Die Infineon SICRYPT CardModule Karte ist eine von zwei vorinstallierten Chipkarten für Windows Vista und Windows Server 2008.

Für Windows 7, Windows 10 und Windows 11 bietet United Access ein zusätzliches Setup an, um das Kartenmodul zu installieren und die erforderlichen Registrierungseinstellungen vorzunehmen (32- und 64-Bit-Version verfügbar). Dieses Setup finden Sie im Downloadbereich section (for registered and activated users only). United Access offers a PKCS #11 module (32 and 64 bit version available); PKCS#11 requires a special pre-initialization of SICRYPT cards.

Eviden (Atos) CardOS

CardOS ist ein Chipkarten-Betriebssystem von Eviden (früher im Besitz von Siemens und Atos). Es ist speziell für Infineon Chipkarten-Controller wie den SLE78CFX3000P oder SLC52GDA448 gedacht.

On the one hand it is a classical multi purpose ISO 7816 operating system. On the other hand it is also an operating system in accordance to signature laws. The architecture of CardOS is based on the idea of a general purpose platform with a number of loadable standard packages depending on the target application / project to be implemented.

Für die Integration in verschiedene Betriebssysteme können Middleware-Produkte wie CSP und PKCS #11(CardOS API) angeboten werden.
